Hey there!

I have noticed a trend in the creative world; almost everyone uses their "love for coffee" to describe who they are. One thing's for sure, there's more to me than liking coffee -- even though I could really use a cup right now; let me tell you about me.

In 2012, a local family gave me my first opportunity to photograph people. Prior to that I practiced on animals. I often took hours getting the perfect lighting, stance, and angle of some bored dog, bull or horse. I really put the 4-H motto "learn to do by doing" into practice! But after my first family session I fell in love with the spontaneity of it all: the challenge of cracking a joke, snapping the shutter at just the right second to capture a family laughing together, thoroughly enjoying each other's company. There wasn't a dog, bull or horse that gave me that feeling!

But it's not just about good timing. It's about connecting with clients. My goal as a photographer, as a human, is to be raw, authentic, vulnerable, and yet a confident leader. In my opinion, it's the combination of these characteristics that leaves people feeling safe enough to share a piece of them with me, with my camera. A piece of them, a piece of their family, a piece of their story. This connection is how magic (in the photography world) is made!

I've heard it all when it comes to what people tell themselves. "That's my worst side", "I don't know how to stand", "I look so awkward in photos", "my nose is so big", the list goes on and on. My goal is to test people's comfort zones and get them past that "junk" in their heads. While they are beating themselves up about "flaws" I see beauty! I see beauty everywhere in this world and it is my job to help my clients (you!) see the beauty that I see!

I am forever grateful to my clients who have stood by me and Sarah Anderson Photography all these years. This tribe of people has supported me in my passion, my hobby, my business, and my mental health break from ranching and mom life -- thank you! And now, I look forward to meeting you, sharing our stories, and capturing moments that you will cherish for a lifetime!

Client testimonials

"Our family enjoys sessions with Sarah year after year. She puts everyone at ease and never misses a beat, even with cranky children! Her creativity and fun personality behind the lens never fails to produce images that we will cherish for a lifetime!"

Rebecca Scott, Glen Ewen SK.

"We have had Sarah out to the farm twice to capture our family. She was willing to travel to different pastures to get that "old barn or livestock in the background feel." We loved the pictures she captured for us and will continue to use her keen eye in the future!"

Natahsa Arthur, Alida SK.
